From humble beginnings to building a dedicated team of five passionate dog lovers, it's been a year of incredible growth. Most importantly, we've had the pleasure of spending countless minutes with the dogs we adore, making lasting memories along the way.
From Zero to Five: Building Our Team
At the start of the year, Barkside Bay was a small team with a big vision: to offer high-quality, reliable dog walking and pet care services that dog owners could trust. Fast forward to 2024, and we’ve grown from zero employees to five dedicated team members. Each of us is deeply committed to giving every dog the best possible care, whether it’s through a quick walk around the block or an afternoon hike.
It’s been amazing to see how our team has come together, not just as colleagues, but as friends with a shared mission: providing the best care possible for your furry companions.
88,900 Minutes of Love, Care, and Adventure
One of the most exciting milestones we hit this year was the 88,900 minutes we spent walking, playing, and bonding with dogs. That’s over 1,481 hours dedicated to pet care! Every one of those minutes represents more than just time; it’s about the relationships we’ve built with the dogs and their families. From wagging tails to happy barks, we’re proud of the joy we've brought to each walk.
Our drop-in visits were the standout favorite for many of our clients. Whether it was a quick bathroom break or a mid-day snuggle session, these short but sweet visits brought joy to both pets and their owners. But Leisure Walks and Trail Explorations weren't far behind, with both options offering dogs the perfect balance of exercise and fun.
Walking 5,926 Miles — That’s Like Erie to Florida, Six Times!
In 2024, we walked a total of 5,926 miles. To put that into perspective, that’s like walking from Erie, Pennsylvania, all the way to Florida — six times! Whether it was around the neighborhood or through scenic trails, we made sure every dog got their daily dose of exercise and fresh air. And we loved every step of it!
Our Furry Friends: The Aussies and Goldens
It’s been fascinating to see the variety of breeds we’ve had the pleasure of walking, but there was a clear favorite in 2024: Australian Shepherds. These energetic and intelligent dogs were the most popular breed we walked, closely followed by the ever-loyal Golden Retrievers. Whether it was a playful Aussie or a gentle Golden, every dog we’ve cared for has left a special paw print on our hearts.
Overcoming Challenges and Celebrating Triumphs
As we’ve grown, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, but each one has taught us valuable lessons. From managing a larger team to fine-tuning our scheduling and services, we’ve learned how to adapt and improve so we can continue offering top-tier care. Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping our journey, and we truly appreciate every suggestion and comment we’ve received and taking time out of your day to fill out our quarterly surveys.
